*pulls out the tea and blankets and soup and pumpkin spice* IT IS THE FALL!
Anyway hi welcome to another issue of Outsider Comics store news. Fun fact: if you’re old school and still use RSS feeds you can subscribe to our store blog (which also includes the monthly store news) at https://www.outsidercomics.com/feed/ on your favorite RSS/Atom reader app of choice.
Anyway please read on for some exciting events, and stuff!
Goblin Art Market Cozy Fall Edition
It went so well in July we’re doing it again in October! Come join us next month for local artists with some chaotic cozy vibes!
We’ll have stickers for your emotional water bottles, cards for your various holiday needs, hoodies for your shivering flesh, frogs for the void in your soul, and so so much more. Whether you’re getting ahead of Holiday Shopping or stocking up for a cottagecore fall, we’ve got you covered.
This is all happening on Saturday 10/12. As usual, head to our events calendar page for more info!
Hot Tropiks presents: FILIPINO KOMIKS @ Outsider!
If you can’t wait until October we will have HOT TROPIKS, a California-based publisher of excellent Filipino and Southeast Asian komiks and children’s books, doing a pop up shop at Outsider on Sunday, September 29th—right before Filipino Heritage Month in October!
Join Angelo of Hot Tropiks and local Seattle Filipino community groups in children’s story time, komiks show and tell, and lots more Filipino cultural goodness from 1 to 5 at Outsider. Check out our events calendar for more details (including specific times of special events like story time to be announced).
(Sorry monster lovers: we don’t actually have the budget to actually have the Tikbalang wrestle Bigfoot. Maybe next year???)
Paradise Lust Book Launch! (18+ Spicy Event)
Reminder that we’ll be doing a launch party for Book of Shadows: Paradise Lust on 10/3 from 6 to 8 in the evening. Be one of the first people outside of the crowdfunding campaign to grab a copy of this gorgeous deluxe pinup art book featuring angels in sexy settings!
As a backer I already have access to the PDF and, heck, I can’t wait to get my physical copy on the 3rd!!!
(Your many eyeballs and/or screen readers do not deceive you! This was originally scheduled for September but the books took a little longer to arrive than anticipated.)
Double Your Charitable Impact Until 9/28!
Just like last year, a generous anonymous donor is matching all book donations to Books to Prisoners Seattle during Prison Banned Books Week and Banned Books Week to bring awareness to prison censorship and to deliver books to folks who need them. Buy a book from the Books to Prisoners display at participating Seattle bookstores including Left Bank Books, Queen Anne Book Co, and of course, Outsider Comics and get your donation matched!
Comics and graphic novels (especially those with recognizable, classic characters and have queer themed) are among the most requested books from incarcerated people! Thanks to your generosity we sent over $500 of comics to folks who need them last year during these two weeks. Can we do better this year?
Can’t make it to Outsider but still want to help? E-mail us with a budget and we’ll work it out via online invoices and stuff!
More Events From the Past and… in the Future!
- If you missed Nicole Andelfinger and Seanan McGuire’s signings and still want a signed copy of Of Her Own Design or What If… Wanda and Peter Were Siblings? we still have several signed copies of each title left in store!
- Save the date for a signing by Sage Coffey (Wine Ghost Goes to Hell, Abortion Pill Zine, Not a Wolf MtG Secret Lair, and more!) some time in November! We’re trying to figure out the details but we’ll post them on our event calendar ASAP!
Some New Comics You May Like
- Star Trek Godshock – Three years after the end of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Sisko returns to the Alpha Quadrant as a god. Now Sisko, Crusher, Data, and a bunch of other fan favorites on board the USS Theseus (yes, the name is intentional) must fight some new god-murdering threat. Does this description read like a weird AO3 fanfic summary? Yes. Does it matter? No. Because it kicks butt.
- Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees – Imagine: a small cuddly bear who lives in a quiet little town. It’s cozy and adorable and also the bear is a serial killer who needs to hunt down another adorable? serial killer to clear her name so she can do more murders. It’s a twisted, weird, gruesome, disturbing, horror crime thriller that is perfect for the combination of cozy and horror that October brings.
- Jim Hanson’s Labyrinth #1 – It’s almost the 40th anniversary of Labyrinth and Boom is bringing us a graphic adaptation of the novelization of the movie! It’s like, the movie, but with twice the bonus content! If you loved the movie, you’ll want to step into the world of the Goblin King once again with this new gorgeous adaptation.
Okay That’s It For This Month!
Thanks for reading! <3
