For July, we’ll be running a special series of Magic the Gathering Final Fantasy drafts as part of the Chocobo Racing promotion! Play drafts, win matches, and bring friends to get points (which are recorded via stickers on a poster elementary school style) and win prizes when you accumulate enough points. More prizes are available at the end of the month based on league standings!
The drafts will be on Weds 7/2, Thurs 7/10, and Weds 7/16. Yes, we’re doing Wednesday Night Drafts!
Here’s how it works:
- You get 3 points for playing one of our three Chocobo Racing drafts.
- You get 1 point for each match you win (each draft is 3 matches).
- You get 1 point if you bring a friend who is new to official Magic limited events to the draft with you (when they register for a new Wizards account at the event), limit 3 per event.
Why you want points:
- Once you accumulate 10 points you get a shiny Chocobo Racing mini-poster.
- Once you accumulate 20 points you get a Chocobo Racing pin (as seen above).
- These are while supplies last; however even after we run out we’ll see be giving out promos such as promo cards (tbd) and pins from previous Standard sets for 10 and 20 point rewards, respectively.
- Any extra Chocobo Racing rewards (miniposters and pins) will be given to players based on point total after the league is over.
- For example, if only 4 players accumulate 20 points during the month, then the 2 leftover pins will be given to the 2 players with the highest point total below 20.
- In case of ties, we will use registration order to determine prize priority.
But that’s not all, we have **even more prizes**! We don’t run Standard constructed so we’re tossing some of those prizes into this pool too!
- Participate in a draft and get one of the following special promo cards while supplies last:
- Standard set Box-a-Box Promo from a 2024 or 2025 set (not Final Fantasy, sorry!)
- Deep Cavern Bat (Store Championship Participation Promo)
- Rishkar’s Expertise (Aetherdrift Commander Party Promo)
- The 8 players with the highest point totals at the end of the month will also get a Preacher of the Schism Store Championship Top 8 Promo!
Finally, here’s the prize structure for the draft events. Because of the extra cost of FF packs we’re doing things a lil’ weird this time.
- 1 Wins – 1 Pack (Foundations, Bloomburrow, Duskmourn, or Aetherdrift)
- 2 Wins – 1 Pack (Final Fantasy)
- 3 Wins – 2 Packs (1xFF and 1xNonFF)
- Ties – 1 non-foil FNM promo pack for each tie
